The revenue goal formulas
Customers needed = Revenue goal ÷ Average customer valueLeads needed = Customers needed ÷ Close rateTraffic needed = Leads needed ÷ Website conversion rateExample calculation
To reach $30,000 with $600 customers, you need 50 customers. At a 20% close rate that is 250 leads, and at a 2% website conversion rate that is 12,500visitors a month — about 417 a day.
What your result means
These numbers are your monthly targets. If the traffic figure feels out of reach, the fastest wins usually come from improving conversion and close rate rather than chasing more visitors.
Common mistakes
- Focusing only on traffic and ignoring conversion and close rates.
- Using an average customer value that is too optimistic.
- Setting a goal without checking whether the required traffic is realistic.
The number tells you where you are. Not what to do next.
A goal broken into numbers is a plan waiting to happen.

How do I work out how many customers I need?
Divide your revenue goal by your average customer value. If you want $30,000 and each customer is worth $600, you need 50 customers.
How does this calculator estimate the traffic I need?
It works backwards from your goal: customers needed, then leads needed using your close rate, then visitors needed using your website conversion rate. The result is the traffic required to support your target.
Why break the goal down into leads and traffic?
Revenue is a lagging outcome you cannot control directly. Customers, leads and traffic are the levers you can actually act on, so breaking the goal down makes it something you can plan around.
What if the traffic number looks impossible?
That is a useful signal. It usually means you need to raise your conversion rate, improve your close rate, increase average customer value, or set a more realistic goal — not just chase more traffic.
Should I use monthly or annual figures?
This calculator is built around a monthly goal and spreads daily visitors across 30 days. For annual planning, divide your yearly target by 12 first.
