Price Increase Letter & Email Templates
Tell customers about a price change clearly and respectfully. Pick the situation, add your service, prices, date and your own reason, edit the wording, and copy it as an email or text — or print it as a letter. Nothing is invented for you: no reasons, notice periods, discounts or pressure.
Which situation are you in?
Each detail you enter replaces its [placeholder] in the messages. Leave a field empty to keep the placeholder and fill it in later. Only the fields this message uses are shown.
Nothing you type is saved or sent. It stays on this page until you close or reload it.
Before you send
- Check your agreements or terms: what notice they require, and whether they allow a change at all.
- Decide what happens to work already agreed. The templates keep it at the agreed price.
- Use your genuine reason, or none. Offer options only if you can really provide them.
- Every [placeholder] you leave empty stays visible and is listed under the message, so nothing goes out half-finished.
How the templates work
- Details you fill in replace the matching [placeholders] in every message.
- Edit any message directly; your edits are kept until you undo them.
- Copy the subject, message or text, or print the message as a letter. Nothing is saved or sent from this page.
Common questions
How much notice should I give?
At least what your agreement or terms require — check them before choosing the date — and as much as you reasonably can. These templates do not suggest a notice period, because it depends on what you agreed.
Do I have to give a reason?
Not necessarily. If you give one, use your real reason in your own words; the templates leave a gap for it and never supply one. You can delete the sentence instead.
Does the new price apply to work already agreed?
The templates assume not: agreed work and visits before the effective date stay at the agreed price, and the future-work message says so. If your agreement allows a change to existing work, use the notice message and quote its terms accurately.
Can I print the message as a letter?
Yes. “Print as a letter” prints the email body under your name and contact details, the customer’s name and address, and the date. If any [placeholder] is still unfilled, it tells you first.
