Invoice Generator
Create an invoice for work you have done. Add the items, any discount and tax, and payments you have already received; the preview shows the finished invoice and the amount still due. Download the PDF and send it to your customer yourself — the generator does not send invoices or collect payments, and the invoice’s contents are not uploaded.
Who are you invoicing, and for what?

None recorded
Record only money you have actually received for this invoice. A deposit you asked for on a quote is not a payment until it arrives. These are your own entries; nothing is checked with a bank.

Your draft
Your invoice is made in this browser and its contents are never uploaded. Your work is kept in this tab until you close it or clear the form — downloading does not clear it. Save a draft file to keep it.

How the amount due is worked out
Invoice total = subtotal − discount + taxAmount due = invoice total − payments you have recordedIf payments recorded > invoice total: overpayment = the difference- Items, discount and tax use the same exact, cent-by-cent calculation as the quote builder.
- The discount is shared between taxable and non-taxable items in proportion to their value; tax is charged on the taxable share after the discount.
- Payments appear on the invoice only when you record them. The amount due is based on your entries, not on any bank record.
- The totals on screen and on the PDF come from the same calculation, line for line.
Worked example
Two rooms at $100 each, less a 10% discount, plus 10% tax, make an invoice total of $198.00. The customer has already paid $49.50 by bank transfer, so the amount due is $148.50. Select Example above to see it.
What this generator does not do
- It does not send invoices, take payments, chase customers or connect to accounting software.
- It does not check tax rules or invoice requirements for your country, and does not keep records of invoice numbers.
- When a payment arrives, you can send a payment receipt. For an overdue invoice, use the payment reminder templates.
Common questions
How is the amount due worked out?
Invoice total minus the payments you record on the invoice. If you record more than the total, the difference is shown as an overpayment rather than being hidden. With no payments recorded, the amount due is the invoice total.
I asked for a deposit on the quote. Is it on the invoice?
Only if you record it. A deposit you requested is not a payment until the money arrives, so the invoice never adds it for you. When it has been paid, add it under “Payments already received” with the date you received it.
Can I turn a quote into an invoice?
Yes, if you saved the quote as a draft file in the quote builder. “Start from a quote draft” copies your business, the customer, the items, the discount and the tax. Optional extras the customer did not choose are left out, the deposit is not recorded as paid, and you must confirm you have checked the details before you can download the invoice.
Does it number invoices for me?
No. Enter your own invoice number. The generator keeps no records between visits, so it cannot check that a number has not been used before.
Does it handle tax rules for my country?
It applies one tax rate that you enter, to the items you mark as taxable, after any discount. It does not look up rates, check what an invoice must include where you trade, or prepare tax returns. Ask your accountant what your invoices need.
