Payment Receipt Generator
Confirm a payment you have received. Enter who paid, how much, when, how and what it was for; for a part payment, add the invoice total to show what is still owed. Download the PDF for the customer. The receipt records what you enter — it does not check that the money arrived.

How the remaining balance is worked out
Remaining balance = invoice total − earlier payments − this payment- The balance appears only if you enter the invoice total. Without it, the receipt shows the amount received and nothing else about the invoice.
- If this payment is more than what remained, the receipt shows the excess separately.
- The receipt never marks an invoice as paid in full; it records one payment.
Worked example
A customer pays $49.50 by bank transfer towards a $198.00 invoice. The receipt acknowledges $49.50 and shows a remaining balance of $148.50. Select Example above to see it.
What this generator does not do
- It does not verify payments, connect to a bank or payment provider, or update an invoice.
- It does not ask for or store card details.
- To bill a customer, use the invoice generator.
Common questions
What is a payment receipt for?
It confirms that you received a payment: who paid, how much, when, how and what for. It is not an invoice (which asks for payment) and not a delivery note (which records goods handed over).
Can I issue a receipt for a part payment or a deposit?
Yes. Enter the amount you actually received. If you add the invoice total, and any earlier payments, the receipt shows the remaining balance, labelled as based on the amounts you entered. It never says “paid in full”.
Does the receipt prove the payment cleared?
No. The receipt records what you enter; nothing is checked with a bank or payment provider. Issue it once you have confirmed the money has arrived.
What should I put as the reference for a card payment?
The transaction or authorisation reference from your card terminal or provider, or the last four digits of the card. Never the full card number — the generator will not accept one.
Do I need an invoice from Cleverlio?
No. The receipt works on its own. If you have an invoice from anywhere, you can add its reference and total to show the remaining balance.
